Hersonissos, Crete Greece

Hersonissos is a very popular holiday destination among Germans, Dutch, Serbs and Irish. So, if you end up here you’ll come across many different languages and customs. The harbour area is quite popular with Germans and Irish and, because of this, you’ll find traditional Irish pubs. On the eastern side of the town there are hotels, shops and bars. The beaches are beautiful and from the town you can take several trips to interesting sites in Crete. There is a small aquarium, Aquaworld, ideal for visiting with children, and the Lychnostatis Open Air Museum where a traditional Cretan village has been recreated. There are plenty of activities for children as well as for adults. Activities for adults mainly take place at night, as the range and energy of the bars, restaurants and nightclubs is incredible. And for history lovers, there are Roman, Greek and Byzantine ruins to explore.
