Sitges, Spain

Sitges Spain

Sitges is a Mediterranean coastal town and seaside resort about 35 km (22 miles) southwest of Barcelona. It offers excellent tourist facilities and is recognized as one of the most charming and prestigious towns on the Catalan coast. Thanks to its mild microclimate, visitors can enjoy pleasant temperatures throughout the year. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Beaches of Sitges Sitges has a total of 17 beaches along its coastline, both within and outside the town. Each beach has its own character and services: small, large, quiet, family-friendly, naturist, and urban beaches that can all be reached on foot. Six of these beaches have been awarded the ISO 14001 certificate for water and sand quality, cleaning services, lifeguard presence, first aid, and ongoing improvement. From June to September, various activities take place on Sitges’ beaches: first-aid workshops for children, aerobics, water aerobics, GAP, tai chi, and qi gong for those seeking physical activity, plus fitness sessions for seniors. Maricel Museum The Maricel Museum, located in the center of Sitges, offers a journey through two centuries of Catalan painting, from Joaquim Espalter (born in Sitges in 1809) to Pere Pruna. Its collection of more than 3,000 pieces includes Romanesque murals, Gothic panel paintings, Renaissance carvings and altarpieces, as well as Modernista and Noucentista sculptures.
