The reconstruction of the town was undertaken by August Perret using reinforced concrete. This project has led to the city being added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The most important places to visit in Le Havre are: St Joseph's Church, the Cathedrale Notre Dame, the Maison de l'Armateur and the Town Hall, located on one of the largest squares in France.
